Nurses at South Shore University Hospital/Northwell Health, Huntington Hospital/Northwell Health, and Mount Sinai South Nassau are fighting for safe, quality care for their Long Island patients. Over 2,500 nurses at the three hospitals are demanding fair contracts with safe staffing, improved wages and benefits, and a voice in patient care.
Nurses know Northwell and Mount Sinai can afford to invest in safe patient care with enough nurses to deliver the care our patients need. Northwell Health is one of the largest employers on Long Island and has some of the highest executive compensation packages. CEO Michael Dowling made over $9 million in salary, benefits, and perks in 2023*.
Meanwhile, Mount Sinai CEO Ken Davis made nearly $7.3 million a year in 2023 in salary, bonuses and perks.** While the CEOs get rich, nurses and patients on Long Island suffer. After Mount Sinai took over South Nassau Hospital, they increased their charges to patients and insurers by 68% between 2017 and 2022.
It's time for Northwell and Mount Sinai to put patients over profits and bargain fair contracts that respect nurses and ensure excellent quality care for ALL Long Island patients.
Show your support for Long Island nurses. Sign the petition to tell Northwell and Mount Sinai to put patients over profits and negotiate a fair contract that respects nurses and patients!
